Simplest solution for international use
Many laptops have one or more cord and adapter that is almost ready for international use. The cable with the black rectangular box located somewhere along its length. Most of these cables can accept voltages from 100-240 volts, which will allow you to use electricity from virtually anywhere.
The problem is that you can not connect it to your destination because you'll probably a type of plug (3 pins, etc.) that do not fit into these funny little outlets in other countries. Just a simple adapter to the jack to fit into the type of exit. Your cord will do the rest and accept whatever decision voltage throws at you. You'll still need an adapter for your country of destination, so that the plug physically fit into the outlet.

It is a small converter that will give you 110 volts (or whatever your blood is) at home. They often come with an assortment of plugs to fit outlets in different regions of the world. Use this option if you have a slightly different electronic elements that need to "house style" of tension.
It is very easy to take your laptop abroad. First check your current power cable for its power, then check that your plug will fit into the socket in your destination. It's really all there is to it! For each device you have, other than your laptop, check the power cable and determine if you need to buy adapters or charging devices.
